Puerto Rico 2022 Day 4

“Today in Puerto Rico, we had an amazing opportunity to work on a closed school. We worked to repaint it for the community to reopen it in August! It will be a k-8 school focusing on bettering the individual child as a whole, including engineering! This is awesome as I am a teacher at a k-8 building teaching engineering.  Seeing how wonderful this place will be for the children or the community, I am so proud to have been a part of fixing it up with my teammates.

I also had the opportunity to fellowship with other members of our team that I haven’t had a chance to work with yet. Our group did wonderful and successfully got the entire exteriors painted and all the doors painted, too!

This has been such a God directed mission trip personally. Starting on Sunday hearing a sermon that I will never forget. The main focus of the sermon was “God wants us to be well, just might take a little time” - Pastor Hector Soto. It was as if God was speaking directly to me. I have been struggling with personal matters and God wants me to know that He wants me here, He wants me well, and He will stay by my side until I get there. This mission has been a God send to me. I have meet some life long friends and reconnected with my mission trip partner in crime, Dolly. I am exactly where God wanted me to be and I am so thankful to have had the push to come. I am truly blessed to be here.

Anyway, after our long work day at the school, we got to have some fun in the sun and visit San Juan beach! We also ventured to Old San Juan. What a beautiful place we are in. Gorgeous views everywhere, amazing people, and God is here with us, protecting us and encouraging us along the way. We can’t wait to see what else happens in the last few days of this trip! We know God will be directing us the entire way.”

“ With joy and passion in our hearts, our project today is assisting in the renovation of a school that was taken off and after the hurricanes and was allowed to set quietly until the current need for additional educational spots arose. With several benefactors, and a gung ho community this school is becoming a current day “phoenix” arising from the ashes and is reborn. Both teams work together on the project, as one unity to help paint the interior sections of the school white and pink. Several trees level to comfort, and a small gazebo that will get some needed help. If you close your eyes, you can hear the teachers teaching the small open minds, and see the children growing. The school will flourish due to the dedicated staff, not because of government assistance. You should know that the government who shut it down, but it is the strength of the people involved and Gods plan that will make this school grow. It is with the strength and belief in God that all things are possible.”
