Puerto Rico 2022 Day 5

“For GuaGua 3 team today, it was an emotional day.  Very bittersweet and amazing to see what God can accomplish.  We were able to finish Doña Sondra’s house today,  I know that many if not all of us were hoping we could finish all of our rooms that we had already started (bedroom, kitchen and living room/dining room).  Once we got to our worksite, work went really smooth…. Smooth enough that we were able to add another room and completed repainting one of her bathrooms as well.  She was so thankful and her emotional Thank You brought us to tears.  She said that no one knew the troubles she was having with her roof, but she asked God to send her Angels and he sent us to her.  She gifted us with a souvenir addressed individually to each of us.  It was a miniature coffee mug that says Puerto Rico on it.

After we left Doña Sandra’s house, we were able to stop back at a church that had a room they wanted us to strip and paint part of a wall.  It was an amazing feeling to finish so many projects today….. so of course we had to stop for ice cream on the way back to the center where we stay.

One important part I forgot to mention was that we had my FAVORITE oatmeal for breakfast - Puerto Rico has the best oatmeal EVER!  Now, with that…. We had a popular Puerto Rican construction worker breakfast food…. Hot dogs!  We were told that the food trucks are out early in the morning and the workers stop on their way to work and get hot dogs for their breakfast.

We are packaging donations tonight and resting for another fulfilling day and waiting to see what God has in store for us!”

“ Today we started our day off with a most unexpected breakfast. Homemade oatmeal, hot dogs and chocolate! Our Chef Ramone (Don Moncho) says the construction workers in Puerto Rico eat 2 to 3 hotdogs from the food trucks each morning on the job site. He said since we are doing construction work he was sending us off the local way! As our team (God's Fist of Fury) is heading out to a new job location today we pause for prayer led by Debora asking for strength and grace for the task ahead. We had to drive up a mountain to get to the home we are working on today. It is a tropical paradise.  God's beauty is like no other! Margie and Doris are sisters that live next door to each other. We split our team in two so we could power wash and scrape each house simultaneously. Juan John gave those of us not familiar with power washers a mechaniughcal course and Lionel dubbed us as "The Power Girls" . When we were called to lunch we were led down the mountain a bit to another family members home. We were served a large and scrumptious meal by the hosts . Good thing we had to walk back up to finish our work!  With joy and strength we were able to complete our mission for today and as we left Doris gave us all a fruit fig bar and said ‘Tomorrow we will have a wonderful lunch.’”
