Puerto Rico Day #3

Today was a very productive day here in Puerto Rico! We woke up to a wonderful breakfast of pancakes, ham, and cornmeal. Then we headed out to Primera Iglesia Bautista de Metropolis to clean windows, inside and out. We even managed to get the tallest windows thanks to an extra tall ladder (and a tall Pastor Matt). When we finished, we had lunch of turkey with rice and beans. After lunch we headed over to the Methodist church. There we met Pastor Rose Marie and Pastor Alejandro Lafontaine, and we painted the front of the church. Pastor Rose Marie actually told us that she had prayed that the church would be painted before their anniversary this weekend. So not only were her prayers answered, but so were Jeanna’s prayers to do some painting this week!

While we were painting, Pastor Rose Marie left and brought us back some limbers (a frozen flavored treat). We had so much fun painting and practicing our Spanish. We finished most of the front, but are going back tomorrow to complete the front and start on the rest of the building. On our way home, we stopped at a woman named Marie’s house. You see, earlier in the day, Pastor Matt asked one of our guides, Lizzy, if we could get some flan. So, Lizzy called up her friend Marie and asked her to make some for us. She did, and we picked up the flan on our way back to have dinner. Our dinner was chicken, mashed potatoes, and spinach, with the flan as a dessert! It was absolutely delicious! We have now settled in for the night, ready to get a good nights rest.

We have been so blessed so far. The weather has been lovely with only minimal rain and the people we’ve been working with have been welcoming. We still have so much work to do, but it has been so fulfilling. I can’t wait for what God has in store for us for the rest of the trip. <3
