Sad Farewells

We are here in the Cape Haitian airport waiting for our connection to Miami.  Haiti was as I remembered smiles that warm your heart.  The land was under seize from mud and filthy water but the people go on living and loving.  We can learn so much from these beautiful people.

Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking at the First Baptist Church in Cap Haitian.  I spoke on Job and his blessings, suffering, and then rewards.  God was faithful and good to Job and he is the same to his people who trust him.  The people were very open and warm.   The memory of sitting on the platform with 12 deacons and Pastor Smith listening to the choirs, the people singing, and the seriousness of their worship will be forever in my mind.  God has really blessed me!

This week was a challenge for me as I developed a cold on the Saturday before leaving and I am still recovering from a total knee replacement at the end of July.  While I wasn’t at 100% I found my strength in God, our team, and the Haitian people work so well together that I was able to give my best.  Thank you for all your prayers.  I could feel them and I know God is so good.
