Monday July 28th

Hello from Haiti!
I am sure everyone is wondering why we have not been posting on the blog... well, internet is very slow at times.  Sometimes we are able to send an e-mail or a text, but we can't get the blog to open... or we type our blog and by the time we are done, the internet won't let us post it.  I am praying I can get this one typed and posted.

Monday was our first VBS day.  We were up and ready for breakfast by 7:30.  I am excited and nervous, you never know how many kids you will have, or interpreters you will have.  Since we met with some of the Haitian staff that would be working with us, we did know that some of them spoke some English at least.
For our opening, we had a fun skit that worked quite well and the children all laughed:
Sam was playing with a frisbee and I wanted it, I tried to take it from her, when she didn't give it to               me, I "punched" her in the face.  So I was taken to "jail".  Sam came to jail to visit me and forgave me,           then she told me about Jesus and I prayed to accept Jesus into my heart. Jesus (played by Gabe) then           came and took my place in jail.

The rest of the lessons, crafts and games went pretty well.  It was chaotic trying to get the kids to move from station to station.  Today we had each of our team members at a station and let the Haitian team members bring the kids to us.  We think we will change that for tomorrow, as the other leaders were not sure which rooms we wanted the kids in.

Another big thing at VBS today was that we had Pastor Rosa explain to the kids that they can be missionaries like us too and help buy a goat for a family in Haiti.  They will bring in donations to contribute toward the goat, they all seemed excited.

We met so many new friends and wonderful kids today... I can't wait til tomorrow.

Love in Christ
Jeanna

  1. Good morning! It's always exciting to read your posts and I continue to pray for God to show up in ways you never dreamed possible! Sam's been hit in the face with a Frisbee before so it's really nothing new...haha! Stay on course, don't stray from the mission you're there to accomplish. Your time there is quickly coming to an end (for now) so use it wisely!

  2. Jeanna - I keep posting comments but they never show up so I'm going with "anonymous" commenter. I'm sorry I didn't mention to you before that Vince would have people blog in Word then when the internet was up, he would quick cut and paste and post and it worked a lot better. Maybe you're doing that, but in case not it might help in your last few days of letting people catch up and maybe getting a few more postings up before you leave. I know it's a challenge.
