Day 6 – Cap-Haitian, Nord Haiti
It is always hard to find the words to express s what I’m
feeling when I’m here. My heart longs to see Haiti prosper and become a
thriving country. There is such beauty in the land, and even more in the
culture and the people themselves. I am blessed beyond measure to be here, and
I have enjoyed every minute of it! I have to be honest and say that it has been
a wonderful break from the snow back home, but even more so, a great
opportunity to see old friends, strengthen those relationships, and also make
new friends that I will hold in my heart for a lifetime. It is exciting to be a
part of another team that God has handpicked! I am being challenged and blessed
by each member of the team, and I’ve enjoyed the chances that we have had to
work together, and love one another. We have worked hard up until now, and we
all have our sore muscles and tan limes to prove it, but nothing comes close to
the sadness we are starting to feel over the week coming to an end. We have
built relationships with the Haitian workers, even though most times we couldn’t
communicate through words, and I love that! I am praying that each of our
hearts, including those at home, us here in Haiti, and those we are here to
serve, are touched by this trip, and open in new ways to what God has for them.
God is love, and we should be too, where may he be leading you? And who is He
calling you to love?
