Preparing for the Storm - August 13, 2024

What a gorgeous day to be alive! Many things are happening on the Island as the resilient people of Puerto Rico are hustling to get all they need to get through this Tropical storm which is gaining momentum quickly. We were planning to help a family with their repairs of their roof (still weakened and deteriorated from Hurricane Maria) but because of weather that has changed. We will now be in the church helping with clean up of the 4th floor in preparation for youth choir and musicians, which will be arriving next week for 125th anniversary celebration (so excited for them, I love a good celebration). We were served a delicious breakfast by chef Jose (see picture), and he also prepared our lunch. We had a little bit of time to go to the Plaza del Mercado (marketplace) around the corner from the Church). Got caught up in a little downpour and huddled together till it passed (see picture). After today we will be shut in for 2-3 days. This is definitely a time to remember how our God is the anchor in every and have nothing to fear. Going through with the Joy of the Lord being our Strength.
