Day 2! What an amazing day, we started off with an amazing breakfast prepared by the amazing women of the house. After breakfast we went to the school and spend the morning with the children and Pastor Rosa. We started off introducing ourselves to the kids, then prayed with them and sang a few songs. We then moved to a different room and they learned a new bible versus: Isaiah 45:2a in Créole and English. The kids learned so fast and by the end of the morning they were able to recite it to us in both languages. We then did our first VBS activity and they make “Christ’s Fish” with pip cleaners but shortly it got out of hand thanks to Debra, but in the end it was amazing seeing the kids warm up to us and laugh and smile just meant the world to us. We then took a short break and played a few games with the kids. We had a beanbag race and then we had a spinning soccer game; the kids had a blast! We then went back to the classroom and they had a short lesson about Joseph and his brothers. After the lesson they learned a song and we got to sing with them. We then did our last VBS activity and we made “Salvation Bracelets”; they each got 6 beads (black, red, white, blue, green, gold) Each color represented a different aspect of coming to salvation. Sin (black), Christ’s blood (red), Forgiveness (white), Baptism (blue), Growth (green) and Eternal life (gold). The kids all got to make and keep a bracelet and a paper explaining what the colors all mean. After all this we had to say goodbye to the children and that we would see them tomorrow.
