Today we took a trip to the beach! The first part of our journey was taking all of us riding in the back of a pick up truck for the 25 min ride. We had loads of fun waving and greeting the Haitians on the side of the road. Some of them would smile and wave back immediately, some of them looked at us like we were crazy, then once they realized we were waving at them, they got big smiles and waved back.
The beach was beautiful! The water felt wonderful. We played a couple short games of chicken, the salty water made it even funnier when we went underwater. We got lunch made by some locals on the beach, there was fried fish (head and teeth included), fried plantains, some spicy coleslaw type food and something that looked like squid and was spicy too. I hear it was all wonderful... unfortunately my stomach was not being agreeable. After we ate, there was someone cutting down coconuts, so we had fresh coconut milk, it was delicious.
